Right - my new car (530D M Sport Touring) is due in four weeks and I have had a call from my dealer with a "last chance" to add/change any options. My options list is perfect for me (and plenty extensive enough already!!) but I have this little itch about getting HUD (always wanted to be a pilot or something!! )

Anyway, after spending the best part of £6k on extra's already I've decided it's one or the other - but not both - a trip to DMS (tuning company) for another 50bhp and a load more torque or the gadget delight that is HUD.

I think I know the answer already but it's a heart v right foot thing.

What do you think I should spend that last £1k on??

Is it really a choice between the two? How about HUD now and DMS in a couple of months time. Then you get double satisfaction - two months enjoying a pretty fantastic engine with some great toys and then the added bonus of a sudden leap in performance a few weeks down the line!

Yeah both if you can, HUD is brilliant but so is the DMS upgrade.

Anyone heard of a company called e-maps (another tuning company) and know anything about them??

Buy both.

If you can afford the depreciation I think a few hundred quid on a remap isn't going to hurt too much vs the extra fun/desireability increase come resale

Do neither.

Change the order to a 535d.

Do DMS next month ;-)

better still, remortgage the house and buy an M5. No need for DMS and it comes with the HUD.

You'll need to extend the mortgage for the fuel bill though.

Charlie, constructive advice only please (30,000 miles a year in an M5 - I think I'd need to win the lottery!)

Would you like to see a video of me driving down the street at 5 mph without a pony tail?

If it has to be one or the other, then defo go the DMS route.

HUD is funky & pretty cool but no replacement for the insane performance increase the DMS mapping will give you.

As Clive says, i'd also consider swapping for a 535d, although you'll lose a few of your options, but a better place to start.

Also their are many used examples around with low mileage & mucho toys.

I would go for the HUD - I think...

Certainly much easier to get the car DMS'd in the future than trying to retro-fit HUD (if at all possible)

Without a doubt go for the HUD, the DMS can wait forever, and can be bought when you have a bonus or something. The HUD is now or never...........
