How comes it has higher power and torque than the 535d?
I read that it was the same engine, maybe not then?
Very minor difference, I guess they just turned up the boost very slightly. Since there are many chipped cars with 300+ bhp there's clearly plenty of leeway (assuming you run it on decent diesel I guess).
I was told today that the new engine, to go in all the 2007 models, has more alloy and is thus slightly lighter and like you say, has a slightly higher state of tune.
The new X3 3.0, for instance, will have 282 bhp and 428 lbs-ft, against the 272-413 my 535d had before mapping.
have these been launched yet?
I followed one into Bracknell yesterday - pretty quick!
I don't think the new 3.0d engine is out yet, no.
