Unusual E46 questions...
Discussion
Hi all,
a friend of mine has a 330D, and he loves it. He is also getting married soon, and we would quite like to..er...chgav his car for the honeymoon drive to the airport. Nothing damaging, but modifications which can be removed.
So, if we have the car for a few hours, and the correct keys, is it easy to:
-access the horns
-can a noise in the boot be heard in the passenger compartment, and outside?
-can someone measure the roof (4 door, non-Touring) so a nice Union-jack can be applied
-whats the clearence like between the twin exhausts, and the rear bumper/ bodywork?
-how wide is the windscreeen at the top, where a nice, personal sunscreen could go
many thanks for these (frankly) bizarre questions

I have an E46 330d saloon.
What timescale are we talking about here, ie how long do I have to measure all of this above for you?
I can answer most of it apart from the horn question, and what sort of noise are we talking abaout from the boot? How am I to test this?
Yours bizzarely, Will.

I've got quite a while before the wedding- 1 month. And from the boot: well, we want to use a light-switch attached to the reversing light in the back. Therefore when he selects reverse, the light will go on which will lower the resistance in the circuit, triggering a recording us all of us (even his family) saying "beep beeep beep beep. Newleyweds reversing. Beeep, beep, beep, newleyweds reversing" like a lorry...
Mine
Roof: 1m across and 1.3m long. (inside the roofrack rails, NB its a curved, not flat surface)
Screen: 1.1m across
Exhaust clearance: about 4cm to each side and 7cm above.
Horn question: use the fuse box connection and trace into engine bay.
Noise from boot: the neighbours already think I'm crazy, so I'm not climbing into the boot to make a muffled "I've been kidnapped" noise, only to find out whether passengers can hear it...
enjoy the wedding,
Will.
