Hi all,

I have been trying to find somewhere that lists a roof rack, or cycle rack for my E36 coupe. I want to be able to strap a coupe of bikes to the car when I go away for the weekend.

I've looked on the Halfords (don't laugh) site, and they specifically note that a rear mounted rack isn't suitable for an E36 coupe as the mounting points are approriate.

The next problem is that there are no channels on the roof for a rack to fit, and if it needed to be strapped on, there is the problem of the door windows that fit into their seals.

Anyone got an E36 Coupe with a roof rack, or know whether such a think even exists!

I may be your saviour.

I bought an M3 last year and for our hols had to fit a roof rack. Unfortunately Mrs Ballon not v keen on M3 (2doors) with 3 kids so have swapped it for 535d.

I have sitting in my garage the Thule roof bars + fittings etc for M3 coupe and even have 4 bike carriers, only used once. Which of course do not fit 535d!!!

I am surewe could come to some mutually agreeable financial arrangement if you would like them.

Let me know.

Sorry have been having a senior moment.

My M3 was the later model E46. However all may not be lost, check on the roof are there 4 small flaps that can be opened if so these are the mounting points for the roof bars.

Hi There Ballon,

I would most certainly be interested in doing a deal for your roof rack and cycle carriers.

What part of London are you in? I'm down the M4 near Swindon junction 15 (about 80 miles to hammersmith I guess).

Have you a value in mind for your rack and carriers? I do not get paid until 17th, and can't really afford it until then if you are not in a hurry to sell.

Have not really thought about how much, but not excessive as they are of no use to me now.

Please check your car to see if it has the mounting points. Even if it does not you could buy the gutterless footpack from Halfords and you can have my bars and carriers.

I am in SW19 so not far from M4 and am not in any rush so whenever you like.
