Got into the car last night, went to switch on wipers and nothing - no whirring from motors, nothing. Managed to get the occaisonal sporadic jet of screenwash, but apart from that the right hand stalk is totally dead. Any suggestions before I dump the car at my indy? cheers.

Turn the ignition off and on, the try again, you may find it will work. I suspect this is the E46 wiper issue (do you have the rain sensor ones ?) Mine did it during warranty and they replaced the relay, it's now started again.......

Tried rebooting it (turning off and on) without success, dropped car off at garage who have checked fuse, relay etc, and are now pulling it apart to check/replace the switch.

My E39 did exactly that last week. It was the relay (a well documented fault on www.bmwland.co.uk).

Relay is only about £10 from BMW and easy to DIY (on an e39 anyway).

I assume yours uses the same wiring/leccy bits etc etc??

Guess what happened to me this morning.... rolleyes

To save me from having to register with the bmwland forum, can anyone please tell me where the wiper relay is on the car?

Thanks,

Dave.

4 months since last post (after the prob seemed to rectify itself...) and guess what's just happened?!

Can someone PLEASE point me in the direction of this bloody relay?

TIA,

Dave.
