I'm about to buy one of the above cars but I can't decide which to have . Have found a nice R32 for about 30K with all the toys and have also found a really nice 330d again with all the bits but it is 6K more.
Both are great to drive but very different beasts. Anybody out there got any comments to help please!

Are you talking about the E46 330d touring - or - the E90 330d touring?

The E90 Touring is one of the top estates.

R32 - 5 door?

My brother has a E46 330d sport touring on a 53 plate - great car to own/drive.
Think he paid 26k from BMW a year ago with under 20k on the clock.

Not to sure about the R32, only seen them on the road and have never driven one.
If the R32 is a 5 door then as far as size goes there is not much in them.

The boot on the touring is not as big as you would think it is.

One is a 3.2 petrol and the other a 3.0 diesel so very differant engines.

Hope my random comments help in some way......

Rob

It's the new shape 330diesel with 231 bhp. The R32 is appealing as it is a bit cheaper and appears to have lower depreciation but higher fuel bills and is a bit of a blast, whereas the 330d is nice and sensible!

Thanks for your comment anyhow!

Hi

I have an 06 330d M Sport and I'm very impressed. The car pulls like a good'un. I did not even test drive the car as it came from a dealer in the Isle of Man. It takes a bit of getting used to as it's the first turbo car I have owned. I thought it would be just like a taxi as it's my first derv car. I would have another one.

nn,

Shame it has to be a touring, as I've just put my saloon up for sale in the classifieds. The 330d is a cracking car and there really is nothing negative to say about it. Truly a fantastic all rounder. The R32 sounds better, but that's about it. It's not as good to drive as the 330d, and you certainly won't average 41mpg in the R32!

If you can, go for the 330d. It's a bit more expensive, but what a great car. Mine's up for £30k by the way!

Cheers
Matt

My wife got an R32 (old shape) a couple of years ago and has done about 28,000 miles in it and was just offered £5k less as a trade in by an Audi dealer and a VW dealer against different cars. Also as far as it goes, the What Car website will do a car comparison that shows the R32 with lower depreciation.

I still haven't made my mknd up although I'm leaning towards the 330 at the moment. I have seen a nice one at a dealer in London (£36k) with the toys that I need(want to have!) but it is just a bit more than I want to pay, so I will probably wait until some cheaper one's come up in a little while.

It nees to be a touring as my dog needs accomodation.

Good choice, much better than an R32
