The fitting kit comes already attached to all genuine M3's.

As I see it you've got two choices. Get the bits you need from the scrap yard where you bought the mirros from, or pay BMW main dealer prices?

Often wondered how stolen M3 mirrors get fitted.

"Wanna buy these mirrors mate? came off genuine M3 - be straight fit on your 318."

What your after is the base plates also know as mounting plates.

Try: Performance BMW Mag in the back section loads of firms sell the plates

or Total BMW Mag again as above.

A dealer will cost more of course.

or Egay!

p.s I hope they did come from a scrapyard!

If I was you I would have gone down the ACS route they do really nice mirrors for the E46 and guess what? They come with the plates!

got an M3 badge as well? Some M3 replica wheels? All you would need then is a K&N filter and it would be quicker than an M3.

sorry, but we cant help jumping to conclusions (they might have been nicked and passed on to a scrapyard, did you see the donor car then?)

Heres a pair on eBay

You'll probably have a few problems getting the bits from a main dealer, not sure if they have the same policy now, but in the past they wouldn't sell M3 bits to customers without an M3 chassis number, not the hardest thing in the world to put your hands on though, especially as you'll already be at a BMW main dealer.

How much more more help do you want? rolleyes:
Moral of the story really is don't buy anything incomplete thinking you might be able to get the other half cheap before doing your homework
Your best bet is going to be to buy a complete pair of mirrors and then shift the bits you've already bought to some other unsuspecting sap on Bay.

Odd that the scrappy had the mirrors but not the base plates.
Its pretty hard/impossible to damage the bases without doing anything to the mirrors.

Take a look on www.realoem.com to see what you need, and indeed if its available to buy without the mirrors.
Remember you want to search for an M3, not your car

BMW only sell e36 m3 mirror baseplates with the mirrors to make sure that stolen mirrors are no use on their own. I'd imagine the same would be true for the e46 as well
