Looking at E39 M5s. However some have the deep tinted windows to the rear which I don't like (personal taste, I know a lot of people do).

Was this a factory option or aftermarket?
If a factory option can the tint be removed (i.e. is it a peelable film?) And is the glass then still 'normally' tinted?

One more question - is the SatNav upgradeable with newer maps/software from BMW?

Thanks.

Not too sure if you can get factory fitted tint off as I think the tint is impregnated in the glass, but again not 100% sure. You can get tint film removed and theres a number of companies who'll do this, give one a call and pop down, they'll soon tell you whether its aftermarket of factory fitted or not. Also, does the tinted windows show up as a code option, could also give BMW a call and ask.....

On the SatNav you can upgrade to get new updated Maps and upgrade the software. I found an OS upgrade at X5 World: www.x5world.com/navigation-system/15849-nav-os-v27-1-has-been-released.html

Not sure whether it will work with yours, but it shows theres stuff out there and will most likely be on dedicated BMW forum and info sites...have a hunt... You can also get updated maps from BMW and also e-Bay..... I would though check to ensure what OS version and maps will go on yours to ensure you don't waste money or screw the system up,...like I probably would...

I personnaly would ask my local BMW techie and then hunt myself down the OS and Map DVD....save some money as I hear it's not rocket science to self install.
