Im considering replacing my standard sport alloys for genuine alpinas on my e39 540 sport, however I haven't seen a set on a 540 e39 in the flesh, and was wondering if anyone has done this and if possible has any piccies that I may be able to view, many thanks in advance, also the price is £1295 exc tyres, does that sound a good price.
many thanks Ian.

Hi Ian, if you have a pic of your car (side on) and a pic of the alloy's (side on) then I can photoshop it for you to see what they look like on your car.

As far as price goes - can't help sorry.

Alternatively, save yourself an effort and go to Autotrader.co.uk. Then do a national search for a BMW then the model is Alpina. There are plenty of E39's with genuine Alpina's on them. Nice one in blue and one in black I just took a look at.

And they do look very tasty too.

Google Images brings up quite a few

But then which spec Alpina wheels are you thinking about, softlines like in the pictures above or the new 'Classics' or maybe even the 2 piece softlines?

Either way the price seems about right for original 18" softlines, and a cracking deal if it's 19" Classics

For the E39 the 18' wheels look great, but the car has to be a touch lower. Standard ride height looks crap (just) and a 5 with the M-tech suspension or an aftermarket one looks good....

I have seen a E39 with the 19's two piece - though not sure if these were original. They start to look a little bling at that point and you do run into issues with ride height and fitting them into the wheel arches. That said, I do know a couple of 5's which are on 20's - though they were a real hassle and are actually the current 7 series wheels and were a nightmare to get right.... Look great though.
