Hope someone can help me with this strange problem but I can't get my Roadangel to work in my 3 series but it will in my X5. The problem seems to be that in the 3 series it won't pick up the satellite (it will, but very infrequently).I have powered it up through the cigarette lighter and there is life in the unit. Someone mentioned an issue with heated front screens but the x5 certainly has a front screen de-mister (if that's any different to a heated screen?). The 3 series is a 03 MY and the X5 a 04MY.

hello Dozer, just a little help with prob. some higher spec B.M.W'S have a uv screens that can block the gps signal getting to the road angel. please refer to your set-up guide
page 6 note 8. an additional antenna may solve the prob!!!

Jasper, thank you. I hear your point but the X5 which is a later model and arguably higher spec supports the Roadangel!! I will look at the handbook as you suggest as well as speak to someone at BMW.

it sounds as if the 3 Series has a climate comfort screen. Look around the rear view mirror and you should see a black dotted border with a small area cut out. That will show that you have this screen.

I think so.
My 330 came with a Snooper fitted and the the previous owner said somehting about the RA not working because of the screen (it has a Comfort screen whihc supposedly keeps the car cooler in sunlight).
