Hey guys on my way down the M1 a while back I noticed a slight judder around the 80-85mph mark. Nothing too serious at all, but I was wondering what it could be down too??

It doesnt happen under braking so the discs are fine and the tracking seems to be ok?

Any idea?

Got the same myself at bang on 80! Could be a number of things:

1) Check the balancing - obvious, but many leading brands of tyre places are crap at balancing
2) Check the tracking - a slight "out" on this can have unusual effects
3) Brakes - uneven wear or sticking calipers can have this effect
4) Bushes - not sure about the 7, but the E39 5 suffers bush wear which can cause a judder
5) Propshaft - again usually bushes on the E39, but they wear and can cause judder
...

Plenty of things to check and make sure are resolved. You can spend thousands getting it fixed. But start at the top and work down. Mine is deffo brakes as I have uneven wear and a slightly sticking caliper (which I think I have fixed now). Still got uneven worn disks / pads which are causing this, but will resolve this with a full set of disks and pads next month....

I'd put my money on the front wheel balance being out. Get all four wheels balanced to be on the safe side, before you spend lots on getting other things checked. Curbed it recently?

Never kurbed it

Im thinking its either balancing or bushes as over rapidly oscilating ground (like cobbles) I get a slight knocking from front and rear...again only slight, but enough to notice it

I know it's obvious but costs nothing, check tyre pressures.

Yeah all tyre pressures are checked fortnightly if not weekly

32 upfront 38 at the back (as per owners manual instructions )

I had this prob with a Porsche 993- Tried balancing etc... in the end, new tyres solved it- apparently old tyres start to distort with age, and they were 7 yrs old.
