Sat nav upgrade disc...?

I am due to take delivery on Thurs (yippee) of a Alpina B3S cabrio, registered July 04.

It has the DVD as opposed to the CD ROM based nav system.

I understand the sat nav firmware can be upgraded- does anyone know exactly what this involves and what I should ask for?

You can upgrade to the latest operating system, v27.1 - either at the dealer as part of the price or you can do it yourself from x5world.com www.x5world.com/navigation-system/15849-nav-os-v27-1-has-been-released.html

Nice to hear from you agian, do you still have the 355?

I have the V27 upgrade and instructions if you need it, also it's worth getting the latest software (2006-2 High) which has fixed camera sites and allows 5 digit post code entry, it's about £200 from he dealer although I understand it may be able to be had for around £25 on e-bay!

If you are looking for a 2006-01 Professional DVD I just bought one in the mistaken belief I needed Professional - actually needed High. If you're interested send me a mail. Can do it for a ton to recover on my stupidity!

Mark- hi there!- I sadly have sold the F355, but am greatly enjoying the 993 Targa I bought to replace it. Do you still have your 550m?

What is the difference between High and Professional? How does one know which one to go for?

Best thing to do is what I didn't - eject the disc to see what version you have at the moment. Basically your car will either run High or Porfessional but not both. Not quite sure what the difference is I'm afraid.

i bought the upgraded software and latest 06 disc on ebay for £25. to be honest the 06 disc is a copy and seems to have half the uk postcodes missing and the only advantage of the software was 3d display. i'd stick with the dealer supplied 06 disc if you want proper postcode search.

most the stuff like that on ebay is pulled from peer 2 peer systems of the 'net.
