Not wanting advise on getting my hands on a couple of Bm's not belonging to me, but wether or not its o.k to use a trolley jack to lift either of these - worried about bending/snapping the plastic jacking points underneath which the std jack sits into. Cheers

I would cut a piece of wood to size and insert it into the recess. I think jacking directly onto the plastic would be risky.

I use a small pillar jack, but that isn't without problems due to a lack of range. Is there actually enough clearance to get a trolley jack under the sills ?

You can lift the rear of a 3 series by the diff.

thanks - wasnt too sure about lifting other than the correct jack points, but wood insert is a good idea. Just wondering what the monkeys at kwik fit etc do..probably just lift it and bugger it up!? The jack will fit under - did measure to check, but theres not much room.

Certainly on the 3 series, don't lift both wheels on one side from one jacking point, as they can (and do) collapse..

Yes but it trashes the diff mount over time.
