Evening chaps,
Been lurking on PH for ni on 2 years & this is first post. I'm looking at a 330 for my girlfriend. Going to look at a 2002 model tomorrow. Looks quite tasty however there are a couple of things that I'm not to clear on.

1. What model no is a 2002 330?
2. What is AC Snitzer ports supsension? Is it factory fitted or aftermarket?
3. Its a 2002 with 30k on the clock & asking piece is £18k. Seems reasonable what do you recon.
4. Apart from the usual HPI, tyre kicking etc is there anything I should be aware of or look for?

Cheers
Steve

All the 330s came in 2 specs, SE and Sport.
I assume you're talking about a 330ci Sport.
2002 will be a pre facelift model.

£18k is far too much imo. You can get a sport convertible for only a little more.
How well specced is the car you're looking at ?
Don't worry too much about mileage - an extra 20k on one of these won't make any difference to its reliability.

E46 pices have fallen through the floor recently and there are loads around so bargain hard.

18k is way too much mate.

I have looked extensively into this and just bought a 2001 built but 2002 registerd 330i sport saloon (facelift model with new stley headlights, tailights and bumpers,The early facelifts only had the bumpers done but with the old style lights. ):

My Spec:
Metalic Black
50k miles with full Dealer history.
Inspection 2 service included in purchase price (normally £3-400)
Grey leather sports seats.
Sunroof
6 month warranty
And all the usual sport extras.
6-8mm tread on the tyres. NB as the rear are 255 and front 225 18inches which aren't too cheap!

I paid 12k.The car drives and feels like new.

For 18k you want something alot newer but I would rather buy one that has lost alot of its value already.

AC Shnitzer is after market but supposed to be very good stuff. If you want firm suspension buy the sport, its firm enough and amybe too firm for some. the AC Shnitzer may be an improvement on this.

There are plenty around so don't feel like you have to rush. Also, for the money you are willing to spend you should get one that is fully loaded with upgraded Harmon Kardon sound, satnav/tv, seat heaters, xenons, through loading, sunroof etc etc.

Hope this helps.

PS: they are fantastic cars and I am so glad I finally got one...

I've just seen an 03 plate 330 sport saloon with all the usual gear and 50k on the clock for £14k. And this is the revised six speed car. £18k is well off the scale.

Gents thanks for the comments. The car I was looking at was spot on with top spec (TV, Sat Nav etc etc) plus the right colour Black on black & I was prepared to pay a premium for the right one however after a bit more trawling thru the classifieds I realised that £18k was way to much.

Thanks again
Steve

One more thing to look out for is the exhaust note. The pre facelift 200/2001 models I drove were alot quieter, in fact too quiet for my tastes.

The facelifted one I bought sounded far more meaty. It has a bassier exhaust note and and louder induction roar at full revs. I thought that maybe the airfilter had been swapped on this one for a performance one but it is standard. So from that I am assuming the facelift models have been tuned for more sporty sound too.

For that sort of money you could get yourself into a tasty M3!
