Topic says it all - my E46 M3 is a bastard when it's cold, kangaroos like you won't believe.

Even when warm(ish) there's a noticeable flat/cough spot at about 1750 - 2000 revs in second.

Do they all do this ?

If not, what's the cure ?

(And yes, I know how to drive a manual, and yes, I know that it has to get warm before you hit it hard, etc. My NSX taught me all that and it never did this...)

Hi benzedrine,
App. they all do this, mine does. It makes you look like a bit of an arse.
I tend now to start it up and then do all the faffing around (put seat belt on, close all the cubby holes and the glove box (always leave that open) and to be honest, it helps.
How are you finding it?

Thanks for the advice - it's reassuring.

Other than grumpiness when cold it's simply fantastic and certainly as quick as the NSX - but the (really minor) nitpicks are that

1.the brake pedal is too high for me to comfortably heel and toe
2.i prefer five speeds. six means two too many in the bottom end of the gearbox.

I'm going to keep this until it dies.

benzedrine,
Obviously PH is the way forward, but i do tend to read up on the M3 forum at www.bm3w.co.uk

Quite a few members from here are also registered on there, including the likes of Zod (Charlie) who has owned M3's and CSL and now has a new M5 (lucky bd ).

The 'kangaroo' effect is covered heavily on there, oh and if you get time do a search and have a look at 'Had the CSL Prof Detailed', in the M Car Ownership, Aftercare & Tyres forum. Very nice!

My M Coupe is exactly the same. A horrid car to drive during the winter but I'm starting to remember why I bought it now the sun's come out
