Have just bought a 540 auto touring that on start up from cold is perfect, if I go for a drive and turn off it takes about 3-4 goes before the car will tickover, it just stalls, it is possible to "catch it" but need to keep the revs above 1500
Blocked idle control valve? Easy job just to whip it off and clean it out using carb cleaner or some other fast evaporating solvent. Worth a go and its free! (if you have the cleaning stuff already)
Where is the idle control valve?
