Hello chaps I am looking for any advice on weather a Z3 2.8 or 3.0 ltr is worth a try, I am thinking of buying one.I would like to maintain it myself as far as possible that is why I am considering the older model thinking if I dont pay to much I wont worry about maintaining resale value by keeping a full BMWSH so any advice on service costs would help and any common problems that arise allso I understand you can buy a tool to reset the service lights, does any body know if this is correct, and is there any where I can get any technical information from ,work shop or service manual etc thank you for any advice given regards Steve.
Hi Steve
Main differences are that the 3.0 is newer and the cars have a different shape (big deal) but most importantly all have DSC (stability control - which works very well). 2.8's only have a very crude ASC (traction control). For track fun, it can all be switched off.
Not a lot of difference in performance/insurance etc., both motors are bulletproof too. 3.0's will obviously cost more.
Like Phil says, check out the other car specific site for more detailed response and from people who've bought recently.
Best of luck.
