e36 air con

my friends e36 328i aircon control unit switches off at random,
have been told there is a common dry joint,
has any one had this problem befor? and how did they fix?

mine does this too. not just the air con though, the whole heating and ventilation (climate control) system.

Hi,

It's a failed capacitor within the unit which causes this problem, I changed mine for about 20p. only takes an hour including geting the unit out of the car. I bought the capacitor from Maplin. I belive there are instruction on how to do this all over the web, just Google it.

I had this problem. Followed the info on here and all working fine since.
