Anybody ever converted a E46 3.0 to LPG?

Any good? How about servicing at main dealers etc?

And how about costs? Does it affect the drive?

Any info would be appreciated!!

I have just bought a e46 330i sport saloon that I will be converting in the next few months.

From my research so far:
Slight power drop of between 3-8% depending on car.
MPG drops as you only travel about 80% of the distance on liter of lpg as you would petrol.
Cost: £1500+vat for an OMVL sequential system.
Takes 3-4 days
Lpg price between 40-45p depending on area.
Tanks: you can have a big 90l cylinder mounted in the boot against the back seats and retain your spare. Or have a tank fitted in the spare wheel space (remove spare and have the tyres treated with a special pucture seal stuff that stays in the tyre and fixes any small leaks as they occur. I will most likely do this.
You can only fill the lpg tanl to about 80% of ist stated capacity so as to allow room for expansion so bear this in mind when choosing tank size.
Car starts on petrol and then switches rto gas (keeps injectors lubed up)
Car will automatically switch to petrol before you run out of lpg so you can get a very long range on both tanks.
You will have to have second filler mounted on the bodywork which can look a bit ugly. My car is black so no big deal. However you can have the filler colour coded. (not allowed to have the filler in the boot)

Assuming 21mpg and a lpg cost of 45p the car will cost me about 9p a mile to run.
A 330d doing 38mpg with diesel cost of 100p will cost me about 13p a mile to run.

I do 30k a year so for me the savings and pleausre of petro 330 outweigh the hassle of the conversion and loss of boot space

Have a look at:
www.lpgautoconversions.co.uk/index.htm

I will probably use them as they have done a few bm's including a 6cylinder m5 which apparently only lost 10bhp after the conversion. You can speak to Steve Adams.

There was a 330ci lpg for sale on autotrader up in Lincoln and I have seen a couple of v8 X5's.

Hope this helps,
Dino
