My pops car has been out of action for a few weeks due to alternator failure and air flow meter problems

Ive located an airflow meter and was just about to check if its the same as pops.........only thing is the battery has died and hence, locked us out!

The central locking obviously doesnt work and there doesnt seem to be a way to manually unlock the doors using either of our keys

Is there some way of getting into the car without doing the car theifs dance through the window???????????????????

Guys...gimme a hand

If the bonnet is still open you could pop some jump leads on another car and get power for the central locking that way. Depending on the model, the battery might be in the boot of the car, in which case you could power the central locking from there, provided you can get the boot open.

Beyond this I have no idea I'm afraid.

Just thought, if you can get under the car you could get the positive lead on to something going to the positive battery terminal, then climb out again and get the negative on something easier to access. The alternator might be a good place to try.

Thanks for the help guys

Unfortunately the bonnet isnt open and the battery is stored underneath the bonnet on this particular models

All this couple with the fact that its parked on an angle and we cant get underneath it either

AA suggested that we hook jump leads upto the boot catch (manual override works on boot) and connect it to the boot light to gain enough power to activate the CL, but I doubt it will!

Im gonna try it in a bit...got to tend to my baby first (my car needs a bath)

Thanks again guys, you're super stars

can you open the boot?

If so, charger onto the rear lights or number plate lights might be enough to operate locks.

And the key doesn't work? Wierd.

In the later cars you can use the key in the drivers door lock.

Put the key in either front door turn it in the unlock position, then pull up on release handle and continue turning the key in unlock direction almost 90 degrees.
The combination of doing both together engages a mechanical linkage to unlock the door, sometimes I find the passenger door works better than the drivers possibly due to less wear.

We tried that but the passenger door lock appears to be buggered and the release/lock combination doesnt do a thing!

We're getting a battery charger this week and gonna hook it up to the boot catch & positive light terminal as suggested before....should be fun
