E46 330Ci Oil Usage :driving:

Hello all

Since buying a Sport Touring for my wife recently, we have decided to buy a Coupe' for me (I don't need the extra space :-).

I was speaking with a chap who is selling his and he tells me it uses oil. Our 2003 330i Sport Touring doesn't, so is this a bad thing, or is it a case of some do, some don't?

He reckons it uses about a litre every 1500miles. The car only has 35000 on the clock and has a full BMWSH, so all should be OK?

Walk away. There are too many about to take the risk. Honest seller though.

Jeez, a litre per 1.5k is pretty serious drinking! Unless I'm very much mistaken I believe that matches the S2000 for oil thirst.

It's especially significant considering that the 3 litre M54 (or at least when it's in the E85) takes Mobil One only please, which is about £10 a litre.

Sounds a bit excessive- I've had two and they both required a top-up of around a litre every 13-14k miles.
