E30 M3 Sourcing in Germany
Discussion
Hi all
Am beginning my search for an E30 M3. I am planning on taking a trip out to Germany to find one out there as good example's are getting rare over here.
Was planning on sourcing them over here on the net and then going over to view them and eventually buy one.
Has anyone done this or have any experience to help point me in the right direction of where to start looking?
Do they have a german version of the Autotrader? and where else are the best places to look for them?
All help and advice would be much appriciated.
Thanks.

www.autoscout24.de (click 'english' at the bottom) and www.mobile.de (select 'english' in the box at the top right) are the big car selling sites
edit: forget that english bit, it seems to cut down the number of hits for some reason

You can try www.mobile.de , but don't expect any good deals. I think they're at least as sought after in Germany as in the UK.
What is your budget? Do you want a std one or perhaps an Evo, Ravaglia, Ceccoto, Tour de Corse, Evo II or Sport Evo version?
Best bet is to go on www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/default.asp and use the M power section as nearly all of us on there have E30 M3's.
It will be nigh on impossible to get a 100% mint one as the cars are 17yrs + old now and are driven with a passion, so what looks mint may not be once you tear the skirts, bumpers, wings, arch liners and undertray off. Im in the process of stripping my "minter" down at the minute and I have ended up spending 2k to get it up to what I would call mint if you want any advice on what to look for when you buy just ask.
Alot of the German E30 M3's are modded aswell and its usually in very poor taste, it seems us Brits are the ones who like to keep them as BMW intended and if modded we tend to go for 2.5ltr Evo conversions and good brakes and suspension.

As said by a couple of people above "You have missed the boat" in Germany years ago!
There are far more decent ones here in the U.K than Germany now...to the extent that buyers from the Continent are looking to the U.K to buy. Indeed, I have recently had unsolicited enquiries from the Continent for mine...and at better prices than most U.K buyers would offer too!
As you may see from my website I never use the term 'mint' for any second-hand car let alone on cars, the youngest of which will now be circa 15 years old...no car is truly 'mint' from the second it rolls off the production line (that's what the term 'mint' means). However, as said above, one needs to realise what one is dealing with i.e a 15 year plus car and they can hide a multitude of gremlins. Even if you do get a really good one be prepared to spend to maintain it as such.
www.bmwclassics.co.uk/page_m3.html
P.S The webpage is now a little out of date...I have now owned the car for over 5 years...mileage is now 154K kilometers and another round of maintenance expense is soon in the offing.

I've also heard that the germans are now looking hear for cars to take back home. There are some nice M3's still around but there not going to be the cheap ones.
I picked my uk supplied one up for £5500 off a guy that had moved to the states and although its due a respray and a few small bits of rust doing i think i got it for a fair price.
At the time i went to look at one for £7,000. At that time my best mate was doing alot of munich legends bodywork so i took him along which was a good thing as the front struts were bent and the roof had a kink in it!
