I have just sold my E39 M5 which I will be replacing with another with less mileage than my previous.

Im also looking for a daily hack a 535i has caught my eye as well as a few others .

What do I need to look out for when veiwing this beast also MPG figures and milege between services would be helpful to.

Thanks for any feed back

NOt really sure what to look out for on them, when i got mine i took it to a local garage and they looked it over for me.
Mine does about 18.3 mpg at the mo, to much town driving kills the milage, its about 24mpg on a good long run and thats not driving at 70 as well.
As for servicing i belive its about once per year, every 10,000 miles are so, depends on how you drive the car - it calculates on that.

Oh, have a look under the car and make sure that there are no dents where someone has jacked it up in the wrong place, like what the previous owner of mine had done to it, just cost £150 to get the rust cut out.

Thats all i can think off, they also do sound tappety most of the time, mine is noticable, but the garage says it's fine.

Happy hunting and keep us updated.

I can certify the fuel lines, i had to get mine done, cost about £100, if you need an accurate cost let me know, can dig the bill out.
Let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Oops sorry forgot to reply ! :O)

In a word NO

The car was advertised as a modified by Sytners with Alpina wheels and suspension etc but no engine mods, laid up for 4 years exhaust manifold blowing needs re-commissioning ( was not quite sure what that meant) Oh and 2 owners 1st GB BMW till 8,000 miles and then present owner till 160,000

Got there and there was loads of history last serviced 159,000ish so far so good.

Then I was taken out to the car first it was auto :O(

Then there was the blowing manifold, radiator was blocked so it couldnt drive far without over heating. The paint on the boot was knackered apparrently it had been parked reversed into a bush. The nearside rear door wouldnt open? One of the front brakes was seized. For the size of the owner the front seats were very worn and not just on the bolsters.

The list goes on so in the end I walked away.

So now going to see a mint e30 325i next friday

The phrase....trying to hard springs to mind!

£1500 is telephone number for an E34 unless its a mint condition diesel!
