I live in Enfield north London and my BMW extended warranty runs out on 24 April.
I am not renewing, therefore I am looking for a reliable (reasonably priced) independent
mechanic to work on my e36 M3 evo convertible. Regards Steve

Hi Steve,

As I see no one has given you the location of an BMW specialist near you, I can only recommend that you talk to Autobahn motors in Camberwell, South London. Call 020 7703 3859, and ask for Robert. See what he can do for you, if you're willing to make the journey. He's honest, very reasonable, and of the many times I've taken my 3 series there, his work has been immaculate.

Also, give the guys at C3 BMW a ring (020 8659 7272) and see if they can recommend anyone in your area. They're parts specialists, but fairly well hooked-up. Worth a shot, good luck with it.

Just seen this post now.
If you are willing to travel to south london there is an indy in Bexleyheath, BWise (www.bmwise.com/)
They are great guys and i use them for both BMWs that i have. The guy that owns the company used to work for BMW, but probably relised that he could make more by himself.

If you can get to Chelmsford, try PMW Ltd, 01245 496739.

Ask for Peter or Steve.

Peter is an ex BMW Tech, knows his stuff and has all the correct diagnostics equipment etc, labour costs half that of franchise dealer.

Highly recommended

Had mine 4 wheel aligned at PCS - Milton Keynes the other week, very happy with the results. Front used to wobble when braking, assumed it was knackered front disks, but front roll-bar bushes and alignment sorted it all out - also solved varios clonks as well.

Funny you should mention your roll bar bushes - I will be replacing them on my car as well. In addition to the 'wobble' you experienced under braking, did you also feel a certain amount of tramlining and general 'looseness' through the steering wheel? I get it at slower speeds only, on badly-surfaced roads.

i'll second BMWise. they've looked after mine for about 5 years and have always been very fair. resonably priced genuine chaps. not sure if michael is the boss (a liverpudlian) but always very helpful. really looked after me when a gargage in cornwall bothched my headgasket (whilst on holiday) and had to be done again....

Hello mate give Highams Park Motor Company (BMW Specialist) a call on 0208-523-3443 and ask for Clive. They deal with both my 6 series and my M3 Evo. Been using them for a few years now and find that they supply a very good, honest service......and they're on your doorstep !!

Happy motoring.

M3john.
