Here are the official pictures and press release from BMW ahead of next Tuesday's press launch. Some profile views are still not perfect (but will be improved in an M3 version), but it's the best looking BMW to be released for many a year.

OK, here's what we've got thus far in terms of stats and measurements.

The new E92 Coupe is..

+ 4.2 inches longer than the E46 M3, but same width and same height.

The E92 335i is 156lbs (69kg) heavier than the E46 M3.

The E92 328i (in the US) is 66lbs (29kg) heavier than the equivalent E46 330i Coupe.

The E92 328i is 66lbs (29kg) lighter than the equivalent E90 330i saloon.

The E92 Coupe is 2 inches longer, 1 inch narrower, 2 inches lower but uses the same wheelbase length as the E90 Saloon.

rear end looks a bit Audi-like to me.

Its a handsome car although a little too safe compared to other recent BMWs.

At least there's not much about it that is actually *ugly*, unlike the 1/5/7/Z series. It looks loooooong, though, doesn't it.

4 inches longer, but then isn't everything about that much bigger since the new European crash regs came in?

This new 3 series coupe looks better than the 6 in my opinion

Many more official pics here:

To me, it's not actually ugly, but it just leaves me stone cold. Doesn't look at all special of exciting. Perhaps I need time, or to see one roll past me...

Agreed!...but then that doesn't take much does it? The 6 being the worst abomination since...well since the 7 !!!

No, actually the 6 is an even bigger travesty than the 7...big BMW GT cars have always relied on 'looks' as their strongest suit...to have failed in this is to have failed in an absolute fundamental...I actually vote the 6-er as "Worst of All" for this greatest of all failings!

Let's not 'get used to'; let's not make excuses...these 'designs' have quite simply repeatedly yo-yo'd between bland indifference and projectile vomitting inducing failure! Thus far the only 'Bangle-Era' improvement over a predecessor has been the Z4 and derivatives. The rest one now 'tolerates' knowing that the boys who have done the work on the dynamics will have produced a formidable car...but let's not forget that's not the only reasons we've bought BMWs over the years?!

Surely, now that he has had free reign to go through the WHOLE range of EVERY BMW 'Series' it is time for them to say: "Goodbye!...End of Era...Thank you...Can we now get back to where we were i.e cars that made you WANT them when you were a kid from the second you saw them!"

Sure, this new 3-Series Coupe looks 'ok' when compared with the banality of its saloon version...but it hardly makes one think: "I really want one of those when I grow up!"

I think they've finally seen the error of their ways in the design of the new 3 Series saloon. They've got rid of the disgusting rear light design and gone for something much more in keeping with BMW tradition. They've also seen sense with the front grill and got rid of that stupid design with the top rail of the double kidney actually sitting on the bonnet lid!! Nice to see a proper double kidney again.

I was really disappointed with the new saloon and was beginning to wonder what to do with my E46 330i when it comes up for renewal - now all is solved, 335i Coupe it is!!

Yeah I must agree.....it isnt the kind of car that sparks desire is it??

The 6 series is definitely the worst car since...erm well, as you said, the 7 series!

BMW need to go back to making cars like the 635SCi still one of the most beautiful cars ever built alongside the M1

Hmmm,

Front - C class compact
profile - clk
rear lights - IS200
exhaust - a4

Not offensive in the same way as the 5 though.

Wow, the 335 seems like a bargain for a 305bhp coupe, are those confirmed UK prices or converted € prices?

Those are confirmed UK prices from the official press release. The BMW configurator will be updated from next Monday/Tuesday to spec a car up with all the options.

Hmm, at those prices and with that power, I think the 335 deserves serious conseideration over a Z4 coupe or a base Cayman - the practicality will make it an easier sell to the Mrs too.

Anyone know when the M3 is due out?

Sorry but no thanks....

After 15 years of BMW's including the last two iterations of the 3 series coupe. This just does NOT get my pulse racing! I'm sorry to say I will be looking elsewhere. It's not as bad as I had expected from some of the spyshots. But it is so bland, particularly from the front. Perhaps a Sport version may make amends, but why don't they release that from the outset?

I thought the last one was dull when it came out, but it grew on me and I bought one and liked it. Then I went through three M3s, culminating in a CSL.

I was non-plussed by the 5 when it came out, but I liked the M5 and bought one.
