I have just got the itch for an E36 m3, primerily from being at the ring last weekend and seeing some seriously quick ones about.
Now its time to gather some info...
Which is best the M3, the M3 EVO or the M3 GT?
I know of a 1996 evo that may be for sale in a month or so, its got aluminium doors etc but am not sure if its what i want.
I suppose i am just looking for info from owners of what they think of them, i have been in a couple of non evo m3's but just want others input.
Thanks

'twas a limited edition of the 3.0 M3, power upped to 300bhp and a few other mods (extra front and rear spoiler)

Between £6k and £10k depending on condition (for a GT).

I want a GT next, they weigh in at 1410kg (only 60kg more than a down speced CSL). I fancy adding a supercharger and going CSL baiting at Oulton park.

They also have the same, improved, steering set up as the Evo.

They seem to come up every couple of months, I've seen them on ebay and autotrader, they are fairly rare though. The one in the classifieds looks good though.

yeah the one in the classifieds is what i want, but i wont be getting one for a couple of months.
Like with all m3's your buying on condition as opposed to milage.
Do you know of any good information sites on them?

Search PH. There's a few guys on here had them, in fact it was through this site that I first heard of them. There maybe some info on e36coupe.com, but there also a fair bit of BS on there too.

I bought a GT 6 months ago and am thoroughly pleased with it. Prices are reasonable, although any 11 year old car needs TLC. Mine is currently getting a set of coilovers fitted and has had quite a few other bits replaced ...

Having previously owned a 3.0, the GT is a better car and has the added advantage of being a limited edition.

Like all M3's there are some absolute dogs around! Check out this site for more info www.m3gtregister.com/

I had an M3GT, and looking at that M3Register site, I had number 1! (chassis # EA68737)

It was a great car, but the suspension and brakes are far too soft for track use. I tweaked mine a little with coilovers, big brakes and adjustable anti roll bars which transformed it.

Some pics here:

I then sold it and bought this:

which made the GT feel like a milk float!!

Now I drive an X3 diesel.... (how does that work?)

Thanks for the help lads, that M3 GT site looks very interesting.
Time to keep an eye out i think and see what comes up
It would definatly appear the GT is the E36 m3 to go for anyway
