None of them....

There is a private sale on the trader with prof nav and xenons up for £24500. £23500 would get it I'd have guessed.

Got to be the silver one for £22900 hasn't it? All the spec, not so much of the cost!

Thats my immediate feeling, although the sat nav one could take it if the dealer chipped a bit off the price - which they dont seem willing to do. Still a 7k saving on a 2k mile car isnt bad going...

£25k for a 1-Series? Ouch! But then I suppose you need something that says Carrera on the back to dust it off!

I'd not worry about it being a demo, because it's a solid engine and the dealers generally warm them up before ragging the nuts off them, plus it mean you won't have to run it in

But that said, I'd probably not pay extra (in pounds or miles) for Sat Nav, it's nice as a toy but the novelty quickly wears off and most insurers will now charge you extra to cover a car with it on. Being a demo also adds an owner to the V5 and thus hits the resale value, so you can effectively add £2k onto the demo prices. It also robs you of that "brand new delivery" thing, but conversely you don't have to wait for it.

But again, I'd certainly want leather. So it would be a demo for me. And I hate black, so it would be the silver one.

another dealers offered 14% off a showroom car, making a brand new 130i in silver with prof sat nav, lthr, heated seats, bluetooth etc £26.5k OTR

Still think the cheapest one is the best value..... its always easier to sell on when you have bought for 4k less irrespective of whether it was classed as a demo. I dont think the sat nav is worth more than £1k privately and many dont think its worth that with the advance of TomTom etc..

... with 265bhp it will bash Golf R32's too! And Focus ST's, and Astra VXR's, and TT's, and 987 Boxsters...

Its got 190bhp/Ton which is pretty good plus it seats 4.

In truth I winced at paying 30k for a 130i M Sport with toys but at the lower 20's it makes much more sense against a tired M3 or 3 year old 330i (with the lower powered engine!!).

I did look at Subaru, ST, VXR, TT but all maked the 130i look refined from a styling perspective and enhanced the feeling of how nice to drive.

What about the R32? When EVO did the test it as easily as quick If I recall and you could get a breand new one.
Just personal opinion but looks a lot better as well, well if you get a silver one so the grill and mirrors blend in that is!

The R32 is a nice car, but I think it's a little too clinical for my liking. It's kind of like a tool for going quickly, with a powerful engine and four drive, but it's a bit lacking in anything to make it special. It is, after all, a Golf.

Evo said the BM was quicker, but the R32 just pipped it round the track.

The main point they made was that the 130i was one of the most fun cars they had hustled round the track....

I dont like the chrome goaty beard and would rather have rwd than 4wd...

Personally TomTom in a £25k+ car makes little sense...if you're spending that sort of money you should buy a car with OEM Nav.

Xenons are essential on all E87s, standard lights are crap!

How many people would have a £20k TV built permanently in to the wall of their £200k house if they intend to move house every 2-3 years? In my mind fitted Sat Nav is the same.

The latest ones from Sony, Blaupunkt and TomTom are almost as good. Cost 15% of the price and are portable between cars.

Its always the same, when you are buying you are told its an essential 2k extra that any non equipped car will be knocked down by. When you are selling you are told that you never recover the money spent on extras....etc

I've not got strong feelings about Sat Nav, as I rarely drive new routes with any time constraint and thus have no real need for it, but I don't really like the way the third party ones look in the car, they're a bit scruffy in most cases. But then the manufacturers ones are a total rip off!

What I would pay for is a manufacturer's Road Angel!

Its not so bad if you simply get the kit wired in as opposed to cables trailing everywhere...

I acknowledge that...but personally I wouldn't pay £25k for a car only to have wires and plastic boxes protuding from all over the dash.... that is just my opinion..if you're buying used essentially the nav makes the car more desirable doesn't add any real value..so if it costs you no more used...why not??
