Sem. Jr. is on the way in June and we're now starting to do the related shopping. Can anyone recommend an infant carrier / baby seat / travel system (never realised there was so much terminology related to the subject) which is compatible with the new 5 series. We tried one yesterday which basically had too much movement once secured, so got the thumbs down. Given that the car is aimed quite firmly at the 'family' market I'm hoping that there's a reasonable selection out there, but obviously recommendation is always useful. Much obliged in advance.

I'm getting the BMW ISOFIX one. We have a MaxiCosi one for the BugaBoo, but the dopey gits haven't released the ISOFIX version yet.

This may be a silly question, but do you simply order this from your local dealer? I was looking online to see if I could find the details of the BMW one, but to no avail.

I've got the BMW Isofix seat which is fine from about 6 months onwards, and this fits the X5 well. For our 16 month old we bought a Britax Isofix forward facing baby seat and again this fits the X5 and Disco well.

However, the latest craze seems to revolve around side impact so I would do a bit of research first. Also, just because they are Isofix doesn't mean they have been tested in your car, so best get some advice. Mothercare and Halfords are quite knowledgable on the subject.

Halfords - good call!! I think I must have gone through every other baby related store but I completely forgot about them. Cheers.

Yes, you order it from the dealer. They used to be on the website, but they are not any more for some stupid reason.

Here's a photo:

also comes in all blue or blue and yellow . There is a BMW-Sauber version too.

I've got the next one up, the dealer chucked it in as part of the deal (yes it was new and boxed). Of course being a williams bmw F1 one it is bound to be an appreciating classic

It is a very good seat although I think my boy might be a bit heavy for the isofix bit.

From personal experience I can highly recommend the Recaro child seats.

For the smallest children a group 0+ seat like the Young Profi Plus is ideal:
