Recently bought a E39 528 Touring on a W Plate - luverly car and no complaints about what it does. But I have noticed the N/Side Headlamp cover has condensation inside. Is this a Complete unit replacement? Can I just pop the lense off & clean it? What's the damage gonna be?

Thanks in anticipation

When you find out let me know, I dried both mine out recently for the MOT . Hate to think I've got to change them because they leak a tad . I've assumed its a common problem and hopefully not an expensive fix. Last I saw they were at least £160 a pop .

I bought a replacement from ebay for £10.00 plus postage... complete unit including bulbs !

If you have the orange indicator lens, they go for peanuts as many upgrade to angel eyes.

Worth a look.

I think you can just replace the seal.

Common BMW trait.

I used the Mrs' hair-drier. Remove the bulb and point the hair-drier into the lamp unit.

I had the same problem with my old E36. Cured the problem by getting a stone thrown up by a lorry which promptly smashed the glass! BMW dealer tried to tell me that I couldn't just buy a new bit of glass, I'd have to have a whole new headlamp unit for the princely sum of several hundred pounds. Oh really... Get the manager, sonny, you're in trouble now...
