Just spent mini money on this car and so begins the cash burn. Any ideas on spark plugs/oil filters/other service items?

Also I have been reading many different things on the optimum FRONT disc & pad set up - any ideas?

Great cars, nice one, enjoy.

Big on encouragement, short on technical advice I'm afraid

Go to your local GSF and ask them (10% discount via the BMW Car Club).

Hope you enjoy driving the car.

Dad had one of these in the 1980's. Possibly the most unreliable car he ever owned. Never bought a BMW since. Sunroof leaked, boot leaked, dodgy electrics, engine used to cut out regularly.

When it worked though it was ace - still one of the best sounds ever, the old 3.5 straight six...

TOP MOTORS MATE, ABSOLUTELY LOVE EM' !!!!! Even thinking about chopping in my E36 M3 Evo for one in the not to distance future.

You'll get good performance "for Mini money" with that one, just please tell us that you bought a manual and not the auto so thats there's plenty of tail out action.

Service parts and the like are easy to come by. As mentioned, GSF do discounts to BMW Car Club members but there's always Euro Car Parts.

You'll find that most of the running gear shares with other models from the BMW line up at the time. There's a company down in Somerset called Fritz's Bits (01823-669425). They specialise in tuning and renovating BMW's of that era and they'll be a fountain of information for you.

Hope you enjoy it !.

Happy motoring,

John.
