Sorry if this thread has been done but I cannot hook up my phone (Nokia 6230i) through the car's bluetooth system (2003 330D). I have the bluetooth code, but as I cannot hook any Nokia phone up I think somewhere in it's life the code might have been changed. The dealers can check the code on their diagnostic equip.I thought that before I paid their rates I would check out if anyone else had this problem or new how to sort it!. The problem with the hooking up occurs when I put in the BMW bluetooth code into the phone and it fails to "Pair".

A friend of mine recently bought a brand new M3 cabro and was forever having trouble with the bluetooth connection. If he took the car back once, he took the car back a dozen times for some sort of upgrade or another. As you can imagine when paying best part of £50k for a motor he had every right to be a little p*issed off!!. In the end, due to other reasons (squeeky hood) he gave the car back and took a hard top instead. With the new M3 mind he just hasn't bothered with connecting the phone to the bluetooth system.

To me it sounds like a common problem / fault.

I'll have a word with my friend and find out what the outcome was for you and i'm sure other people, with a litte more knolage than myself, will post up some more info for you.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

John.

Thanks John. I don't think this is a problem apart from maybe sorting the bluetooth code. I don't want to pay BMW for giving me the code if either this isn't the problem or I have the correct code but I'm not hooking it up properly. I'm led to believe that somewhere in the boot the code is stamped on a piece of electronic equipment.

If you have lost the card in you're documents with the code on then you can get the 4 digit code of the control unit itself, it should be in the left side of the boot behind the carpet trim.
It may have PK or 'Pass Key' written next to it.
Have you tried contacting the selling dealer as they may have it on file, I always write it down on the paperwork at Pre Delivery Inspection

Thanks for your help.I have the BMW card with the code on it,but I can't get it to work. Hence I think someone has changed the code. The supplying dealer has no info!! What does the control unit look like?

What is the procedure you are following ?
I've paired 4 different phones to our car without any problems.

Not sure if the code can be changed.
The guy who I bought our 330 from had trouble pairing his phone so Vines actually gave him a BMW technical bulletin saying how to do this.

email me a fax number and I'll fax it across.

Also, if you do go to the dealer simply say that you cannot pair your phone & can they have a look. It should cost you anything as you car is under warranty (unless its a only just out ?)

Vee, thanks for your help but I sorted it yesterday. I found that the code had been changed. I stopped at an indie in Leicester and he got the code straight away on his computer.10 mins work cost me a £20 but at least I'm hooked up!! Thanks again!
