I would say 330d.
A much nicer and more powerful engine, even though the 320d has been voted car of the year by several magazines.

neither buy a nearly new E46 330d Sport, unless the depreciation is not a issue. In which case, E90 335d M Sport will be the way to go

Do you mean an E46 330dse? i.e. the old shape?

If so that has to be the car, well it was for me when I looked at making the same decision.

A fully loaded late i.e 12 - 18month old 330d or even a 330 sport (mine) it well within grasp. The build quality is better than the new three and for my money it's a much sexier car.

agreed, spot on mate. Loaded 12 month old E46 330 or 330d with Nav, HK, Bluetooth, Xenons makes a lot more sense

Last week I had a new shape 320SE petrol for a day while my E46 330D Sport was being serviced, I was sooooooooooooooooo glad to get back into my car.
New shape interior is ing horrible, reminded me of a Vauxhall Corsa not a BMW.
The later cars only redeeming factor was its amazing roll free cornering, but apart from that I can think of no other reason to change to a new shape car. Another Bangle Blunder.

From my experience of both engines, I'd recommend you go for the 330d, it's much smoother and less 'peaky' than the 320d even though the smaller engine will be quite a bit more economical.

The 320d is a car i have driven quite a bit.
I owned a 330d in 2002 which was very good.
I would say the 330d on balance, is the better bet.

To be blunt, read the above and make your own decision !! I think the verdict is pretty much unanimous . (If thats not a contradiction in terms! )

I thought the 320d was gutless. The 330d is fantastic. Easy!
