E36...how to change fog light?

My lens is cracked so I got a replacement unit from Ebay for the bargain sum of £20 However, when I went to try to fit it I can't see an obvious way of doing so. Help!!!

I went from underneath and undid the splash guard lip thing that sits in front of the front wheel in an attempt to get at the fog lamp unit from underneath but then gave up as I figured there had to be an easier way of doing it!?! Anybody know????

Just do it carefully so you don't snap the bracket...which I did once!

Hmmm....not sure my replacement foglight housing looks like that though! ....better get cracking then....

The picture shows the housing with the fixing bracket still attached...they are separate parts.

OK, job done! Thanks for your help Derin100!!!

After much head-scratching it turns out the major problem I was having was caused by someone previously fixing a cable tie inside the housing to secure the foglight in place, which is why it wouldn't pivot outwards. Can't understand the reasoning behind this as the catch works perfectly. I guess I'll find out one way or another!

That is a common thing people do to prevent them being stolen an unfortunate symptom of them being so easy to replace.

Wouldn't it be great if when you bought a car all the previous owners had to supply a list of all their quirky little ammendments over the years?!! It'd save SOOoooo much time!
