I have bought one of the above which needs quite a lot of TLC. Specifically, new front right wing, new right hand side door, new or second hand wheel, and thats just for starters. I remember being at Donington once and speaking to someone who had one and who knew of a specialist who could supply the racing spec (I think) aerodynamic wing mirrors, and other accessories and spares. Any idea who this could have been?

Hi,

Firstly, nice car ! Get yourself over to www.s14.net and www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_to
Between these two forums, there's nothing you wont get an answer to about anything E30 M3.

There is a few places selling the mirrors I think you are talking about.Try www.s14shop.de first. The guy who owns this shop is a mate and a top guy.Although in Germany, he sells all over the worldpostage is cheap from Germany and he speaks good English. For some place more local for general parts, try www.c3bmw.co.uk/

Enjoy the car

I recently bought a new door and wing for my Sport evo as well from a dealer. The wing was £150 and the door was a wee bit dearer

I would also suggest that you go on to the BMW Car club forum (M Power section) as basically all they talk about and own are E30 M3s, there is a wealth of knowledge there. Whereabouts are you based? I know a good chap in Wandsworth who could help you out...

I am in London for April not far from Wandsworth. A contact there would be useful.

What do you think of these carbon fibre front wings, bonnet and bumper etc? My car is black and I'm TOYING with the idea of fitting them unpainted, along with the DTM carbon mirrors. Is it true you have got to be careful how much sunlight they are exposed to unpainted?

The short shift is a mod I will do whilst I'm at it. Mechanically, my car is spot on, but the thought of some weight loss along the way does appeal.

Most of the carbon and fiberglass panels for sale are for track cars.I've read that some parts will require minor trimming to fit like o/e parts.Unless you are building a track day car, I'd stick with stock steel parts. Those mirrors are tiny. I had a set and I lasted a day with them before I decided they are too dangerous for daily driver use. Again, track car only I'd say.
Your car will be worth more ,IMHO, when its as per the factory finish and free from aftermarket parts.

PM me and I will give you contact name etc...IMO I would not muck around with a Sport Evo as they are very collectable and putting CF wings and bonnet on will detract from that, but if you do not care about things like that then if that is what you want to do go for it, when it comes to these cars originality does it for me!

BMW Z3 set up does a fantastic job and is half the price. Do a search on the BMW car club as most people go down this route, it is very easy to go from 5th - 2nd with the getrag box. The Z3 set up gets the change nice and short but also the bushings tighten up the change a treat.

Try www.E30shop.de and select the english setting there are some very nice parts on there and the prices are reasonable. A good sport evo tho is seriously desirable in std form, has yours still got all the sueade wheel, gear knob and handbrake. The previous owner of my E30 M3 just purchased a sport evo and paid 27k for it. ( concourse )

Re the Z3 quick shift set up, are you sure it will work on my car? (EVO III, as I now understand it should be identified?) I don't think the cost should be an issue.

Re the originality of my car, I suspected I might be politely told off for even considering replacing bonnets and wings with carbon fibre, hence I wrote TOYING with the idea in cap letters...! I know you are right, but it would look damn sexy. I will almost certainly restrict myself to the mirrors and the brake duct inlets, and maybe the bigger rear carbon guerney flap.

The car is original except for Schnitzer suspension. Does that matter? The gear knob had been yanked off by some hooligan looking for reverse, so the replacement is not original but I see there are originals available.

The Z3 set up should work on your car but if you just ask on the BMW car club forum, www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/default you will get a definate answer.

Has your car not got the original clip in brake ducts ( very expensive ) be aware the aftermarket ones usually require bonding into the bumper.

bvr,

Does your car have a leather, single wiper and a strut brace?

I may of looked at it 18 months ago with respect to purchasing.

What parts are shared with the standard E30? Specifically, are the doors the same? What about the bonnet?

Any idea where I could get the alloys reconditioned?

Doors and bonnet are the same.

As for wheels, it depends where you are and if you want to courier them. Lap Tab www.lap-tab.co.uk/alloywheels.php#procedure seem to be a good outfit. £60 per wheel for 2 tone finishes and a 8-10 day turn around. I may know of a replacment set coming up in the next month or so if you are interested.

Not sure on price yet, but probably less than half what a dealer would charge, £340 each!

When I hear I'll let you know.
