Hi Guys,

Got a test drive of a 535d Touring M Sport lined up for Friday. There seem to be a lot of them in the dealer network at the moment as opposed to the 535dSE Touring.

Just read the recent post on run-flat tyres and am wondering whether current owners wish, in retrospect, they had not gone that route?

I am aware that reviewers seem to have been generally critical of the sport suspension and run flat tyres which come as standard on the model I'm looking at.

Any words of friendly advice?

I would personally opt not to have the run flats. had a new 5 series for a month with run flats - absolutely awful

Tend to agree. Basic suspension is a very good balance between being taut and comfortable.

Had a 535d for a year with run flats. Now have a B5 (sportier) with Pilot Sport 2s. B5 rides so, so much better. Should have dumped the run flats from day one. Suspension cannot cope with additional unsprung weight.

Apart from those tyres, however, the 535d is a simply fantastic car - I just missed the V8 rumble.
