Thinking of getting a Z4 - anything i should look out for or consider? Are Z4's better than Boxsters?

Z4 - lot's to like but abysmal ride. Certainly not better than a Boxster.
IMHO of course.

Not to keen on the SLK's.

What's so bad about the ride?

Is it really not as a good as a boxster??

Finally - what does IMHO mean?

Ain't you just got to drive one of each & decide?

WOW - how many cars have you owned. Thanks for the reply in both this forum and the Porsche Forum.

Now the final question - Z4 or M3. As you a man who's owned both!!!!

The M3 is the more 'special' car. If you were going to choose a BMW then the M models are clearly better engineered. If you want to find out more about the M3 and seek buying tips then log on to www.bm3w.co.uk there'll be plenty of owners willing to share their experiences and help you out.

Obviously the ride seems to be a big problem with the Z4 however surly this can be solved by replacing the run flat tyres with normal tryes?

I think the fact that you can get a much more recent Z4 for the same money as an older Boxster is a major attraction of the BMW.
From personal experience, less than a year ago I picked up a 2003 2.5 with full options (only significant thing missing is sat nav)with 2760 miles (yes!) on the clock for £22500, new it would go for over £32k from a BMW main agent. Further tip - talk to dealers, trade in cars (such as mine) are not listed on the BMW website until they are actually on the forecourt, if you ask the salesmen what they expect you might just get tipped off about a bargain before it is advertised.
Mine has SMG which I love & loathe in equal measures, when it is good it is fantastic, but when the software has an off-day and leaves you with a box of neutrals, quite frankly I'd prefer to be in a Perodua (well, almost!).
Loves? Looks, they're different and grow on you. Carver hifi option - awesome sound. Space for me (I'm 6'2"and luggage. Creamy straight six. Heated leather. 18" spoked alloys. Fasted electric roof in the business.
Loathe? Ride - made worse because the previous owner specced M-sport lowered suspension. Cabin storage (weedy door pockets, little space for a phone, shades etc)
Would prefer the 3litre!

Overall - very happy with the car

Yes precisely. With non-Run Flats the Z4 rides as you'd expect a sports roadster. The Boxster rides no better, in fact it's far worse if fitted with the M030 sports suspension.

Yes, all new Z4s built from Jan 2006 onwards are the new models.

Why not a BMW Z3M Coupe. Rare as hell, cheap, awesome handling and power!

M coupes are holding their value well - an M Roadster will be less expensive

You can still pick up a mint Z3M Coupe for 20-25k though, and thay are better IMHO than the Roadster.
