BMW M6 gets accessorised

AC Schnitzer adds 21-inch wheels and body kit

As surely as night follows day, BMW tuner and accessories merchant AC Schnitzer has launched an add-on kit for the BMW M6.

The high performance luxury coupé gets a more powerful voice, while optimising its response, in the form of a new, fully stainless steel rear silencer system with sports trim.

The next step facing the tuner's engineers was to improve the driving dynamics. It's deployed a suspension spring kit which lowers the M6 by around 25mm -- lowering the centre of gravity -- in conjunction with the front axle strut brace of aluminium and the special anti-roll bar kit. The result is higher cornering speeds possible and greater safety reserves, for example during fast load changes.

Wheels

The wheels are swapped out too. AC Schnitzer has fitted the M6 with racing rims and alloy wheels in various designs and sizes -- including one-piece monoblock variants, Type III and Type IV wheels, which are available in sizes 8.5J x 19-inch and 9.5J x 19-inch. Alternatively, you can choose racing rims Type III and Type IV, which have been tested in various dimensions from 19-inch to 21-inch.

AC Schnitzer's new Forged Wheel offers a bi-colour finish -- with a part polished, part painted surface. It offers a reduction in weight with maximised wheel diameters and widths. It's available for the BMW M6 in sizes 9.0J x 20-inch and 10.0J x 20-inch and is fitted with tyres sizes 245/35 R 20 on the front and 285/30 R 20 on the rear. The front wheel weighs about 10Kg and the rear wheel 10.8Kg. The company recommends high performance tyres from Continental and Michelin.

Aero kit

Aerodynamics for the ACS6 Sports, as with the M5 variant, consist of carbon front flippers which can optionally be linked to the front spoiler via an aluminium strut braces. The front is finished with a new chrome front grille, giving the BMW M6 a retro look.

The rear gets a one-piece spoiler and an integrated carbon diffuser with the aim of increasing downforce for greater stability.

Interior

For the inside, a carbon interior is available in titanium "Exclusive", a three-spoke sports airbag steering wheel or velour foot mats, together with aluminium pedals, footrests and handbrake handle. A new aluminium cover for the iDrive controller in the style of the Type IV wheel provides the finishing touch, said the company.

Looks tasty.

Are there really benefits of having such large diameter wheels though? 21" seems a little on the HUUUUGE side to me!

Wow, that looks pretty damn nice (for a new 6 series anyway), except those exhaust pipes, they look a bit weird, I'm you can option them out though.

The M6 is already chav, drug delaer stylee, but still chav, and runs 20" rims standard. For 80k you would just have the Aston V8.

Its not actually possible to make it look any worse then standard either, looks like an overweight depressed haddock

Must say I agree.

I've always thought Schnitzer stuff was pretty horrendous.

In your Oh so humble opinion. It actually runs 19" runs as standard.

As for the Aston V8, it suffers from just not being quick enough, which is why I would probably buy a GT3 instead. The M6's problem is that it is overpriced next to the M5.

Saw one of these at least 5 months ago in Moscow (where you now tend to see specific cars for the first time). Even the round BMW badges were changed for Schnitzer!! It was the first M6 I had sen.Obviously NOT just out as claimed in the advert.

Hahaha like the grille, can place eggs and such in it, just the place for 150mph cruising and such. Fuggit, am pissed, just got back to uni and have had bar nights and such, but I like this. Bring on the US market 6-speed manual for those of us (not me though, maybe after a good spell on the roulette) with the dosh and a need to excercise our left foot whilst driving; no more clutchless w*nkers boxes for us says I the almighty (It's true, I'm actually god; relax chaps, all PHers will be saved so don't bother with that church nonsense, I'll let you in; plenty of M6ers in heavan, though Jesus himself drives a prius (my son is confused - for the rest of you, armageddon will come far before we run out of petrol so no worries lah) so drive your socks off, and you won't chat to my esteemed colleague the lord of darkness if you speed past gatso's so long as you do it safely - course if you don't, you'll burn in hell bless you my sons).

Yours sincerely, God, previous Alias, FestivAli.

Foul looking: I'd buy a standard car and revel in the supreme being that the M division created in the first place.
