Need for a price rethink more like

Yeah, so it's a nice car in a Maxxer kind of way (nicer if it was a proper track weapon) but 90k is a bit dear, especially as it was a giveaway to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I hope the bloke gets the cash he wants but I'd personally see it go for half that maximum, but probably even less. What do you peeps value it at? I'm going to kick off at 35k because of all the stuff in it, but when it's got 30k miles and Autocar did an E46 buying guide with prices kicking off from 16k, I can't see this making much more than 35k with the wind behind it.

PS if it's your car, good luck with the sale. I hope you and the girlfriend make tons more than I'm suggesting

Who knows what novelty and fame value will add to the price, but I would place a value of between £20-25k on it for the right buyer. It would perhaps make a nice basis for a car to compete in Britcar or a Euro GT series, once it had been stripped of all the toys and fripperies. He's not going to get anywhere near to his asking price I'm afraid, unless he finds someone who just 'has' to have it.

Well it's on ebay and bidding has topped out at 35k between three bidders. The 90k is a buy it now, but his reserve isn't met at 35! Still 9 days to go so my guess is it'll creep up to 40k then go for maybe 43k in the end. I bet he has his reserve far higher tho', the chancer, and it doesn't sell! Let's see what happens...

PS It's a weird car; the back of it is fully stripped with big roll cage and ali panelling, yet it has door cards, comfy seats and sun shields with playstation screens in! A bit like they couldn't make their mind up. As a full racer it would have been lovely but as it is...

A proper GTR has a bespoke 4L v8, I've read that removing the cats completely from an M3 will reduce power too.

Good luck to the guy but surely this is worth a MAX of a mint M3 with all the goodies. Who on earth is going to own and drive the thing? Least of all without being able to even see the bloody thing first by the sounds of the ad

It's alread up to nearly £35K and I think it's £20K too dear already. If that thing makes £90K then mine is going in for a make over and I'm moving to easy street.Without the tin foil and big arches it's pretty much dead in the water. No Climate, no Sat nav, no SMG, not to mention no back seats.
Have you had a look at some of the other stuff they have bought and sold..........A 32F bra none the less................Does the wearer come with the car?

Can you tell it's not my cup of tea?

Good luck to the seller, I'm raising a glass to you as I type.

I just happen to have the raised Titanic in my back pocket, I will not allow buyers to see it ,or touch it but I'd like enough money to buy the moon with for it, pleae send the money to Nigeria.

Err, must be true then? Did you read it on the internet as well?

Reducing the back pressure on an NA engine can often ruin the scavenging effect of the exhaust pulses and therefore mean less power, in addition 2 people on bm3w tried a decat and after about 500kms the ecu light comes on due to lamba readings being wrong, it disables the air mass meter and leads to reduced performance.

I wonder if he chucks the PS2 controllers in with the car. The car looked crap in Most Wanted and looks crap there as well IMHO.

Lambda is before the cat. If removing a restriction gives you more power, then the exhaust is plain wrong; scavenging is related to the tuned lengths not simply overall back pressure. And did they actually say it reduced power or just upset the ECU? Sorry - I'm not digging; just seemed a rather sweeping statement! I've never seen any of my cars lose power on decat.

There are oxygen sensors in the manifold, and at the very end of the cats in the e46 m3 (100 cell cats are fine, decat causes problems), I'm fully aware this isn't the case on all cars as I've run decat pipes on NA engines before.

On the CSL the 100 cell race cats and centre pipe are worth about 10-12 bhp for what it is worth.

If you want a car that looks like it was in NFS, then just buy an M3 (sub 20k) and get the mods done!

10k would do it with change I'd reckon.

he's very optimistic about the price, we sold Maximillions 550LM from the Gumball, the only one in the world and it got 100k and thats a ferrari!
Painted all one colour stripped inside it could be a good fun car but at the moment id say its worth less than the stock car.

good luck though!

Indeed, if it isn't run on Castrol TWS 10w/60 motorsport then no warrenty (probably run out anyway) and no chance of good will if it explodes, cannot believe it is up to 45k on ebay, tempted to buy a ropey one for under 20k and tart it up
