Recently my Z3M has been running inconsistently on a light and trailing throttle. It seems to 'bunny hop' as if it's in the wrong gear or it's very cold. I thought it may be the fuel (I had to fill up at Sainsbury's on a few occasions) but since then I've put in 3 tanks of Optimax and the problem still occurs.
I took it to the garage and ended up spending £200 on a diagnostic and new sparks (in vain). It has recently had a service so the oil etc is all good.
I only drive 12 miles to work and most of that is in 30 and 40 mph areas so the car doesn't really get a chance to warm up but I've been doing this journey for 2+ years now and this problem has only just started. When I take the car on the motorway and the revs are high the problem stops.

I really need to get it sorted but I need some advice on where to take it, preferably in the M4 region and a garage that specialises in M cars.

I get the same issues. I think it's due to the cold as the car is fine after 15 mins once it has warmed up.

Where in Wales are you?

I thought that was the issue too but even after a good run it will still have the problem (all be it less pronounced) when I go back to low revs.

I'm in the Swansea area.

No idea then sorry.

There is a BMW specialist near Newport called Promotive - www.promotive.biz - The owner use to have a Z3M roadster so should know a thing or two about it.

Maybe worth a try?

Cool, I'll give them a call - it's good to know they'll understand the car.

Thanks for the advice!

No problem.

Post back on here when you find out what the issue was & how you find the garage. Would be interesting to know!
