BMW cracked road wheels.

Hi there,
This is first time i have posted on this forum. a friend of mine has a 2001 BMW 330D, he just took it in for a new set of tyres prior to an MOT, he was advised by tyre firm all 4 road wheels are cracked, these are original wheels, LA style V spoke 72, 18", unmarked, no kerbing. They are cracked in the area where the spoke meets the rim. Reported this to local dealer in Plymouth who said the car was an import and they had no interest, reported it to BMW customer service at Bracknell who also said they were not interested due to age of vehicle and the car is an import (aren't all BMW's imports, they are made in Germany are they not-please ignore that comment-), Question is, has anybody else experienced this problem with BMW roadwheels.
The tyre fitting company said they had received a circular in the last few weeks regarding this problem on BMW wheels and are looking for the article as we speak; it had made them inspect the wheels carefully.
This problem has occurred over the last few days, photogrpahs have been taken of the wheels, in the interim the owner has ordered a set of non BMW aftermarket wheels to use while this issue is resolved.
