got a warning message to 'check collant' (spelling maybe wrong on that hehe) when i started up the last 2 cold mornings, started since and it's said nothing and checked it and it seems ok, it's had an inspection 2 not so long ago so it should be ok anyway i'd of thought?

could the cold weather of had something to do with this message coming up?

oh it's an E36 328 coupe by the way.

cheers

From what I understand its a common fault that the sensor goes a little "odd". That is not to say that yours has - check the level and make sure its fine!!! But its a common problem which is easily rectified by a replacement sensor which doesnt go "odd" again...

Mine has it at the moment - level is perfect, but every so often the tell tail "bong" goes off and I get a "Check Coolant Level" message on the dash. Its fine of course, just the sensor.

level was fine in mine, found the sensor and gave it a good wipe and put it back, hopefully that'll do the trick. thanks for the help!

My 540i does that all the time. I just haven't bothered to replace the sensor.
