Hello all!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After a 700 mile jaunt to France for the new year - my 1998 E39 520i has begun emitting a squealing/screeching from the rear - does anyone have any thoughts?

It appears to have a greater resistance to the handbrake from the offside rear than usual, and sounds almost like a stone/piece of metal is trapped in the disc - I cant see anything and wonder could the handbrake be sticking on one side?

As i said any help is appreciated - and a merry new year to all!

Stone trapped in between the disk and the stone guard or between the stone guard and caliper?

Thanks for help M12, it turned out to be a rear brake shoe for the handbrake locked on, and broke a chunk off after an overnight that apparently hit -10 !!

thanks again for suggestions though!
