I drove from Newcastle to London today, and the M3 was really not the best choice. Conditioons were pretty terrible for the forst 200 miles, and just crappy for the rest.
I am pleased that I had the car Permagarded before I went, though. The window reatment seemed to work a treat, and I think the paint should be decently looked after now for the rest of the winter. After a few years back i na FWD car, though, it was a bit hairy at times on sheet ice, and in drifting snow with 340 odd horsepower going through the fat rears.
Mind, there were plentty of people who seemed to have no idea how far it would take them to stop. There was tailgating at about 70 on ice as I was doing 30 in the slow lane.
