just gone past the 100K mark and wondered if anyone on here had run a 330 higher - should I expect any problems?

It still runs very well, and as the new M3 is not here until 2007/2008 it will have about 200K by then!

In general, BMW engines will run several hundred thousand miles without problem if properly cared for. Read an article awhile back about a guy who has run a BMW boxer bike 750K with only one change of rings (at 100K and he said it was not necessary...ran the next 650K with only valve adjusts etc.)

I had the head off a Toyota 3S-FE with 180K on it recently, the cylinder bores looked NEW and no ridge at all that I could feel. I'm driving this car today and it's about to turn over 200K, knock on wood, it's healthy as ever.

So much depends on the maintenance you do, oil you use, and how you drive - keep your foot out of it till it warms up, give it a good run preferably every drive but anyway every week, ie make sure the oil comes fully up to temperature, use good filters and oil, and that motor will last a damn long time.

thanks all,

It is still serviced at a main dealer, I use Mobil 1 oil and as you say am quite nice to it when warming up.

I have never been a BMW fan until I drove the 330, and now I am a bit of a convert!

It is also hard to believe that it still does not have any annoying rattles - yet

I'm on my second 330 now (albeit with slightly less miles than yours) and I love 'em.

Even BMW in some press release recently said that it's "the best engine we've ever built". Coming from BMW, that's some claim !

I have a 330 sport, now on 106K, just had a new clutch apart from that it's still good as new.
It's for sale now though...

A guy I work with has a 320 Ci with 135k on it, still going strong. It uses a little more oil than it used too, but runs fine! I noticed a 330 Ci for sale about 6 months ago with 150k on it, so think you'll be ok!
