Bloody crack across windscreen

This afternoon, going shopping, the windscreen of my '98 M3 Evo decided to crack across the WHOLE width of the window (about 3 inches up) in a nice neat horizontal line.....buggar....i'd had the windrscreen clear blower selected and wonder if the combination of cold outside/warm inside did it...if so, will it happen again with a new window?

Anyway, how much (roughly) are they to replace?

i'm pretty sure it's covered by the insurance, but just in case not i'd like to know

Assuming your insurance covers it, mine cost £50, (all up would have been just over £300), and it doesnt affect your no claim either, good luck, hope your covered.

Have a close look along the crack you will probably see a small stone chip near the start of one end of the crack, that is usually what starts it, also check it is a genuine screen "can you see the BMW logo"? non genuine ones can be more prone to stress cracks.

your correct....in the middle of the crack is a nice neat stone chip with a little star around it......

Oh well, looks like i'll have to dig the insurance out
