Just got the go ahead from the wife to change the Saab Aero for a Z3

I have a budget of around £13000 - £14000 and it seems the best all rounder is a 3 year old 2002 3.0 Sport.

However - over the next year I will do 30000 miles, the Saab easily coped with these despite many tyre changes (I note both have 17'' alloys) and regular service intervals every 12000 miles.
Otherwise tyres, insurance, economy seem much the same........

Two things I'd be grateful for opinion of

1) I assume the Z3 can easily do 30000 miles a year if necessary - what are the service intervals and roughly how much is a standard 'independent' service?

2) I gather most people get a BMW warranty because of VANOS issues. Does this still apply with the later 2002 cars??????

As you may see I had a Griffith - this would certainly not do 30000 a year and running costs therefore also prohibit a Z3M

I think 0-60 in 5.9 secs will provide temporary relief of driving a hot estate....

Thanks for you views, due to start actively hunting after New Year,

Rupert

Course it would

I had an MzZ3 3.2, or whatever you call it. It was hideous. Cabin too small, and everytime I relaxed my arms the windows opened.

...and you still get the same distain from the general driving public as you would in any Beemer. They don't cut you any slack because it's a sports car.

I hope this helps.

I guess so...........

still, I'll return to the TVR fold when the mileage is less, it was a waste driving the Griff up and down a motorway at 80mph for 140 miles a day........ I'd rather someone actually use their Griff for what it does best.........

ACCELERATING
