Blatantly stolen from another forum keep in mind Limosuine means 4 door in this context, they aren't making a 1 series limo but then I'm sure we all know that here . Interesting that the E designation will give way to the F now, I wondered whether they would move to the hundreds or pick a new designation. 3 series MPV was another suprise though it's only a possible project.

Good find! I was wondering what they'd do now they've got into the 90s with E numbers.

Logic [ always the Bavarian's strong point] would suggest that E1XX
would be the next numbers.

I always thought E stood for "Entwicklung", German for development.

I'd be interested to find out what the F stands for.

Interesting - not sure though - could be genuine, but there is nothing in there that I haven't already read about elsewhere. Though, one thing jumps out at me - the M5! According to the timeline, its projected to last until 2010. The current M5 is a slight departure from the past as they have introduced it quite early in the evolution of the 5-series. I cant see it lasting 5 years though. Normally they do a production run of 3-4 and then phase it out before the end of the current model.... in preparation for the new one. It takes an awful lot of development to do and they dont shift that many - I would wonder if they are going to make a profit on the current one, seeing as its got a bespoke engine etc....

Dont know. BMW are smart cookies and they know exactly how to run the "halo" effect on models. Not too little and not too much - seems daft to have the premium sports saloon running for so long in the production run. Then again, what we dont know is the mid-life update and refresh of the 5 - re-style and re-fresh of the car could be almost a brand-new motor in the end, allowing for the continuation of the M5. Then again, its a careful balance as the 5 will be reaching the end of its production at that point, "spy" pictures of the new one will be out and the last thing they want is the M5 looking a bit old in comparison.... diminished the "M" brand...

Still, what do I know - just an observation.
