I had one of those, excellent car, very thirsty and expensive to run but great fun. Watch out for leaky head gasket cos you need to drop the engine to change it, megabucks

Cheers Daz, I wasn't really looking to buy one, but can safely say that from a very early age I have always liked the concept of the M5.

When the E34 was brought in I wanted one, never really thought I would, but today, thought 'sod it' and jumped in head first.

Only told wifey after I bought it, should we say she needed slight sedation......

I'm turning into a bit of a ph nutter......my day to day car is a TVR S3C, and my wifes daily snotter is an M5 There is definately something wrong with my head.

I'll keep you posted, not sure when I'm picking it up, but should manage it next week sometime.

Mike, you lucky sod

I've been promising myself one of those for years (as well as a "couple" of other cars) but have taken the rather dull decision that this year's christmas bonus, if it arrives, will have to go towards a 530d touring instead: the fuel consumption of the 540 is starting to hurt, as is my need to fill it with more stuff than it can take when gigging/recording with the band.

Loved Pete's (apache's) when I drove it though, so I'm sure you'll have a ball. I'm expecting evo-style oversteer pictures/stories in the near future...

Nice one Silverback!

Thats the way to go, TVR for him, M5 for family 'shed'

Had an E34 535i Sport and always fancied an M5 (especially the Touring)
The E34 is a classic looking car, especially in this age of new BMW's

Great car, congrats! (then again I'm just a little M5 biased).

Jeez Mike you were just talking about a 540 last week - and now end up with an M5! I am using my 535 as a step towards M5 ownership rather than leaping straight in....

Is it as good as they say?

Phew, feet haven't hit the floor yet, thanks to all, and yes mustard, I'll definately give it more than a month

I'm picking it up a week wednesday due to my shifts messing me about (work getting in the way). I'm off to London to pick it up with numbnuts.

Funnily enough I have just been on the phone to the owner for over 40 mins and can safely say he is a complete enthusiast, which is nice to know.

Have you registered as a trader yet?

Shall we run a sweep on how long he'll keep this on for. I'll start with 6 months (3 if its a 3.6l)

Nice car Mike, does your wife like oversteer?

Hmm, I reckon I may do more than 3 on this one....why only 3 months then, are they a bad choice....

Judging by the fact my other car is a tvr, I guess yes, oversteer is in the family.

No not at all, just a bit peakier.

However from a maintenance POV, no EDC which is a Good Thing.

Ahh I see.
Bought on a whim, was after sensible, ended up with an M5

I can't promise anything, but suffice to say I have always wanted this particular model in this particular colour, and with fbmwsh, 50k on new engine, recent clutch, suspension overhaul, it's a good un, I may just keep it.

Mike , you have picked wisely young Jedi!

don't like xm5er's comment about '3 if it's a 3.6' tho
i went from a pretty quick TVR wedge 400SE to a 3.6 M5 and it's not a dissapointment in any way.

I've had my car for nearly a year now and can honestly say it's brilliant...

tell me though guys, seriously , what car can you buy for the money that's this well built, has fantastic performance, handles like a supersaloon should,is this practical and carries the general demeanour of an iron fist in a velvet glove.....it's a knockout!

where did you buy from?
www.m5board.com or PH or one of the classifieds rags?

besure to check out the FAQs links on m5board for all you need to know

Cheers

If I could be so bold, some smoked front indicator lenses will improve the look no end.
