e39 540i auto breaking

My bro recently bought an e39 540i...WOWZERS! and we think there is a fault with the downshift or the breaking.

It occurs only when the car is brought to a stand still, the best way to describe it, is it’s like a jump or jolt when stopping.

Could be the breaks or is it related to the auto transmission? Any ideas about what it could be, serious or major fault? :confused:

What exactly was the fault and what were the repair details, if you did have it repaired that is.

If its not resolved for a while, does it get worse?
