not sure if there are any plans to bring out a 335d, but I hope I am wrong.

It's an exciting prospect. Re-map anyone? I think DMS quote 335 bhp and 690 Nm for the 535d, imagine that in the 3 series. Torquetastic!

Nice thought, but not too sure myself....

The current 330d is now up to 228BHP and I am sure that one of the respected BMW tuners can take this higher, say 250BHP or so - so it kind of makes the standard 335d a little redundant in the range....

Then again - I have been wrong in the past and would love to be wrong here - a 335d would be an absolute stonker! High power but less weight than the '5 and probably really good on fuel as a result! It would have it all - power, performance, economy and handling.... why would we want to buy anything else?

Well on the other side of the argument you could say that they offer the 530d so why offer the 535d which would have the same motors as the 330d and 335d

Damn, busted....

Who am I to comment on BMW product plans. I have trouble enough figuring out which engine is in which car as it stands!!! I mean, the 520i has a 2.2 and the 320 as a 2.0 4-pot while the 520d and 320d have the same engine, the 318d is the same engine with less power!!! Not to be confused with the 318i which is the same, but detuned, as the 320i..!! and the 535d is a twin turbo version of the 530d engine!!! Eh, I am lost already...!!! But hey, they say there will be a 335i which is the 3.0 turbo'ed.... confused? I sure am!

There is certainly a place for the 335d and 535d.

Far better engine than the already good 330d/530d, less turbo lag and way more power and torque.

Having owned a 330d sport and 535d sport I'm inclined to disagree here...I think the single turbo is a more seemless engine.

The twin turbo is far noisier than the single turbo engine for one - plus at very low revs there are two flat spots in 535d.

On paper the twin turbo has more torque and power but that's only felt at 80+ mph which is not ideal in the UK. A 330d/530d is near as damn it quick and more economical too....even more so with a re-map done.
